A reliable plumber will use video pipe inspection to accurately locate and identify the root of the plumbing problem and find ways to repair the pipe without delay. This also gives the individual you hire to fix your pipes the ability to find and fix the piping problem without digging up the entire area, a process that is often expensive and very inconvenient.
At Cloud 9 Services Inc., we take advantage of this technology and use it to provide our customers with pipe repair services that are unlike available anywhere else in the Central Florida area.
CIPP lining, or cured in place pipe lining, is a method of pipe restoration used in existing pipe repair. This process is done to preserve current pipes that have been damaged by leaks, cracks, intruding roots, and rust. It increases the lifespan of a pipe system while also possibly preserving building structures and causing little to no damage to property.
After the initial inspection to determine the location of the damage, the liner is inverted using water or air pressure. Next, an epoxy resin felt tube is placed into the damaged pipe from an access point, whether through a manhole or excavation. The liner is then pressurized and shot into the pipe system. Then, we inspect the pipe system once again to make sure the liner is placed properly. We then place pressure for the resin to harden and form a tight fitting and jointless new pipe.
CIPP lining is quite simple. It is attached to a coating pipe and the solid epoxy resin cartridges begin to pump. This form what we call a "pipe inside of a pipe". The new pipe is then much stronger and durable. The coating placed inside the pipe system provides a damp-proof, corrosion resistant, wear-resistant and non-corrosive lining. The coating enhances the longevity of the pipe and on average is made to last up to 100 years.
QuickPoint Pipe Repair
First, the lines are evaluated with our video sewer cameras to determine what’s needed to resolve the problem and to assess if the pipe meets our minimum engineering requirements to accept a new QuickLock point pipe repair system.
Second, we thoroughly clean the lines using our high pressure water jetter and special tools to remove FOG (fat, oil, grease); dirt & mud; tree roots; debris; etc.
Third, we pull the QuickLock sleeve in place and inflate the packer to install the sleeve. The end result is the creation of a smooth and seamless ‘pipe within a pipe.’
Pipe Repair Matrix
The Pipe Repair Matrix is a compilation of pipe repair methods submitted by pipe manufacturers and found in the Standard Specifications. This Matrix is a living document and will continue to evolve as the Department refines its pipeline inspection and repair processes and repair technology advances.
The Florida Department of Transportation (DOT) and the Contracting industry strive for problem-free installation of drainage systems on all DOT construction projects. This has been and always will be the goal of the Department. In some cases, however, problems with the pipeline installation are discovered during the final pipe inspection. These issues must be evaluated and resolved before the project is accepted. Since a properly installed, functioning , drainage system is critical to DOT's mission, the Department must have assurances that the pipe put in the ground will meet its design service life and function as intended. Once the contractor has the opportunity to review any issues associated with a pipeline installation, he should submit suggested repairs to the Department for review. The Construction Office has developed the Pipe Repair Matrix as a guidance document for selecting and approving repair methods submitted by contractors.
As a result, this Matrix is a guidance document ONLY and does not replace Engineering judgment.
** The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) does not accept Cured In Place Pipe (CIPP) point repairs. All Cured In Place Pipe repairs must be installed in accordance with Section 431.
